Pendidikan Kristen dalam Membentuk Ketekunan Belajar di Tengah Kebiasaan Serba Instan

Abstract

The digital era has fundamentally transformed the way students learn, as easy access to technology particularly artificial intelligence such as ChatGPT has fostered a tendency to seek instant answers without engaging in critical thinking. This phenomenon is reflected in Indonesian students' low PISA literacy scores and the growing dependence of university students on AI to complete academic tasks, ultimately weakening students' perseverance in undergoing the learning process, which inherently requires time, patience, and sustained effort. This study aims to examine how Christian education can play a role in shaping and strengthening students' learning perseverance amid this culture of instant gratification. This study employs a qualitative method with a library research approach, using biblical texts as the primary exegetical foundation on perseverance, and scientific journal articles indexed in Google Scholar/SINTA and Scopus as secondary sources. The findings indicate that the culture of instant gratification contributes to diminished patience, an increased tendency to avoid difficulty and failure, and reduced effort among students. Christian education, through its emphasis on character formation grounded in the Word of God, exemplary teaching, a growth mindset, and the reinforcement of a non-giving-up attitude, has been shown to help students reframe difficulty and failure as part of the growth process, thereby enabling learning perseverance to be cultivated sustainably amid the culture of instant gratification.
