Representasi Feminisme Liberal dalam Kepemimpinan Lady Eboshi pada Film Princess Mononoke (Analisis Semiotika John Fiske)

Representasi perempuan dalam film animasi Jepang sering berkaitan dengan persoalan patriarki, kepemimpinan, dan kesetaraan gender. Kajian ini bertujuan menganalisis bagaimana film Princess Mononoke karya Hayao Miyazaki merepresentasikan feminisme liberal melalui karakter Lady Eboshi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif interpretatif dengan paradigma konstruktivisme dan dianalisis menggunakan model semiotika John Fiske yang mencakup tiga level, yaitu level realitas, level representasi, dan level ideologi. Data diperoleh melalui observasi tidak langsung terhadap film secara berulang serta dokumentasi tiga adegan terpilih. Analisis difokuskan pada gestur, ekspresi wajah, dialog, teknik kamera, pencahayaan, simbol visual, dan makna ideologis yang melekat pada karakter Lady Eboshi. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa Lady Eboshi dikonstruksi sebagai pemimpin perempuan yang otonom. Pada level realitas, postur komando, ekspresi yang terkontrol, serta dialog yang tegas merepresentasikan otoritas militer, disiplin emosional, tanggung jawab, dan visi kolektif. Pada level representasi, penggunaan sudut kamera rendah, komposisi dua tokoh yang setara, serta simbol topi merah dan jubah biru tua memperkuat citra dominasi, otoritas, dan pengambilalihan kuasa yang lazim dilekatkan pada maskulinitas. Pada level ideologi, film ini menampilkan tiga dimensi feminisme liberal, yaitu kesetaraan hak perempuan di ruang publik dan militer, solidaritas perempuan sebagai praktik politik, serta perempuan sebagai agen perubahan sosial. Kajian ini menyimpulkan bahwa Princess Mononoke tidak hanya menghadirkan tokoh perempuan kuat, tetapi juga membangun sistem tanda visual, verbal, dan ideologis yang mendekonstruksi norma gender patriarkal.
